Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

Our public discourse is broken but not completely severed. It can be repaired, if slowly.

First,
we need to find ways to strengthen American families. We must encourage
strong marriages, parenting skills and fatherhood. Healthy families are
where healthy conversations start. Second, we need to promote other
mediating institutions – churches and clubs and voluntary organizations –
and that includes protecting the religious freedom of churches and
non-profits. Third, we need to work with social media companies, to
encourage them to devote some of their creative energy to promoting
healthy civil discourse without censorship of free speech.

In truth, we do not have a great national legacy of civil
discourse. But we know that we want better, and we must pursue the
aspirational goal of civil and fruitful public debate. We see the price
of failure in the news every day. But watch Fred Rogers on the big
screen or on re-runs of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, and we see the civility that each of us must bring to our own neighborhoods and the public square.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

“You can’t turn back the clock!” they chanted, “you can’t turn back the clock.” But the clock of the once-mighty Soviet Union, the clock of Marxism-Leninism, a creed that once mastered half the world, is not only turned back but lies dead and broken forever… Social democracy is still here in all its variants, defining our entire respectable political spectrum, from advanced victimology and feminism on the Left over to neoconservatism on the Right. We are now trapped, in America, inside a Menshevik fantasy, with the narrow bounds of respectable debate set for us by various brands of Marxists.

We shall break the clock of social democracy. We shall break the clock of the Great Society. We shall break the clock of the welfare state. We shall break the clock of the New Deal. We shall break the clock of Woodrow Wilson’s New Freedom and perpetual war. We shall repeal the 20th century.

It Snowed Last Night..

8:00 am: I made a snowman.

8:10 – A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn’t make a snow woman.

8:15 – So, I made a snow woman.

8:17 – My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman’s voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere.

8:20 – The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snow men instead.

8:22 – The transgender man..women…person asked why I didn’t just make one snow person with detachable parts.

8:25 – The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and not to decorate snow figures with.

8:28 – I was being called a racist because the snow couple is white.

8:31 – The middle eastern gent across the road demanded the snow woman be covered up .

8:40 – The Police arrived saying someone had been offended.

8:42 – The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.

8:43 – The council equality officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.

8:45 – TV news crew from ABC showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women? I replied “Snowballs” and am now called a sexist.

9:00 – I was on the News as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.

9:10 – I was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services.

9:29 – Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding for me to be arrested.

Moral:

There is no moral to this story. It is what we have become, all because of snowflakes.

This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

While the targets of these outrage mobs have traditionally been
conservatives, this mutant army of the professionally offended class
they’ve created has been turning on its creators with greater frequency.
And Hollywood, after championing this thought purity Gestapo, has seen
its share of high-profile scalps claimed by it.

That’s the real problem, there doesn’t seem to be a way to stop this monster.

I
always enjoy when a liberal Frankenstein’s Monster returns to their
castle to destroy it – why should they get to set the rules and not have
to live by them? But this is a monster that should be destroyed, no
matter who it targets.

We can’t take a joke anymore, offensive or not, which makes us all the real joke. None of this ends well.
