Tumblr Censorship

re posts of commentary and memes found through @cultml, @ml-image, @ml-pnp will be posted at @ml-smallwordgroups if i decide to re post them. couple of quick points

I was thinking about tumblr as a refuge from twitter after the recent bannings. tumblr is far easier to use and less restrictive. add an import feature, maybe a “condensed” post. and fix the ongoing issues

why not use this “algorithm” to bur, restrict, or use as a filter. Or set up a clone of tumblr not connect to tumblr proper and allow it to be seen by those how want.

I understand taking your content and deleting your account. How then do we still find those people? May be delete the content and just post a “forwarding address” as it where. Maybe hold off deleting till Christmas or new years. Has someone made a place for a directory/ a redit thread, facebook page  or idk

I don’t understand the sudden nuking of all of it. If Apple is pulling the strings, hoist the black flag and lead as many away as u can, better to go out under a black flag than in chains

Godard gained pith with multimedia (sound and image), but this
version of collage isn’t good enough — it’s sufficient for his genius
but not worthy of his talent. Godard’s urge to communicate (make art)
was greater than his urge to propagandize; he didn’t misuse his
education or his civility. He graduated from Dziga Vertov Group to make
more spiritually and visually impressive films (Detective; Nouvelle Vague; Oh, Woe Is Me; In Praise of Love; Goodbye to Language).

Through Godard’s visual poetry, the Dziga Vertov Group films reveal
the romance of revolution, and Communism is confronted (as it is not by
Bernie Sanders’s followers) and then implicitly, instinctually, and
artistically dismissed.

The Age Of Didacticism Is Out To Kill Comedy

I’ve been tracking the growing didacticism
of today’s art, the tendency of the mainstream culture’s gatekeepers to
subordinate esthetic merit to the imperative of blasting a political
message that matches the Left’s orthodoxies. Didacticism has been taking
over every form of art, from television to movies to fashion to sculpture to poetry. Now it’s coming for the unlikeliest target of all: comedy.

Did I hear you say that there’s no way to make comedy didactic, that
this is the ultimate contradiction in terms? True enough, which is why
the age of didacticism is coming to destroy comedy altogether—and it is
openly proclaiming that fact. The latest buzz in the middlebrow media is
a stand-up comedy act that The New York Times praises as “comedy-destroying.”

How We’ve Robbed a Generation of Hobbies, Joy, and Creativity

There is a world of difference between being active and being
passive, between creating something and watching something, between
doing something and being entertained.

I’m not picking on millennials. The problem is not new. In 1984, Neil
Postman wrote a book whose title said it all: “Amusing Ourselves to
Death.” It’s as relevant today as it was in 1984.

The question, then, is what, if anything, can we do about this?

Parents need to cultivate hobbies or, if you will, passions in their
child. The only passion most middle-class and upper-class parents
cultivate in their children is getting good grades so that they can get
into a prestigious college

You can discover your favourite band when you’re in your late twenties. You can meet your best friend when you’re in your thirties. You can finally accomplish a life goal when you’re in your fifties. Your youth isn’t the only time frame where amazing, life-changing things can happen.

In fact, youth is rarely where one encounters the life-changing things

Metanoia – Maggie’s Farm

A funny-sounding word, almost as if it were the opposite of paranoia
(which entails projecting one’s bad stuff into the outside world.)
Metanoia is usually used for spiritually-based internal changes based on
a deep and ruthless personal review, followed by penitence and/or
confession.  In fact, tenets of AA are based on the concept of metanoia.

In a more secular context (despite just coming off of Lent), it is
never a bad idea, however unpleasant, to fearlessly do an honest review
of one’s character flaws and weaknesses, covert malevolences,
selfishness, evil thoughts, unhelpful impulses, life errors, failures,
ignorances, etc. etc.  It’s assumed that everybody is a mess or
insufficient in some way, or in many ways.  It takes great courage to
review one’s terrible shortcomings, and not one of us is all we can be.

Wonder Woman: A Conservative and (Demi-) Religious View of the Human Race

But,
does “I believe in love” really serve as an answer to the devastation
we have just seen?  Does it even stand up rhetorically to Ares’s
indictment of mankind?  Certainly not if we are to take that as the
“love” of popular music and of a well-known Beatles song.  Similarly,
Diana’s “only love can save the world” philosophy.  It’s only if we can
take the word as meaning the self-sacrifice we have also seen, or to
mean the love that Diana comes to experience for a broken humanity, that
we might actually believe that love can be enough.  But is a superhero
fantasy even the vehicle for such reflections?  Not everyone will think
so.
